SARB’s MPC meets this week

The South African Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee meets this week for the final time before the end of the year.

There is a very strong possibility of a rate hike this time around, probably 25 basis points. It has been another tumultuous year for the South African economy and there is little to suggest that it will fare any better in 2019.

We need to keep a close eye on the Rand this week.

The ratings agency Standard and Poor’s is also scheduled to announce their latest decisions this Friday, and no change is expected to our ratings. They will remain dismal.
